Diablo III reaches over six million sales
Diablo 3 has reached 6.3 million lifetime-to-date sales, with 3.5 million of those being sold within 24 hours of the launch.
This grants Diablo 3 the title of being the fastest selling PC game of all time. This figure doesn't even account for the 1.2 million people who opted to buy the World of Warcraft Annual Pass, which allowed people to play on Korean internet gamerooms, or to get a free copy of the game.
An impressive 4.7 million players were logged in on Diablo 3's launch day. Blizzard co-founder Mike Morhaime said:
"We’re definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live, we also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so.
“I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support.”
“We’re pleased that Diablo III has lived up to players’ high expectations, and we’re looking forward to welcoming more players into Sanctuary in the days ahead.”
Congratulations to Blizzard for all their success.
