Syndicate is recreating “the spirit of the original” but for “today’s gamer”
In a recent interview with Syndicate's executive producer, Jeff Gaiman, we asked how Syndicate has been re-envisioned and he told us that everything has been built for "today's gamer".
XG247( Sam Clay): For those who don’t know, Syndicate is actually quite an old game, the original Syndicate is a 90s RTS and now this is a first person shooter. What’s happened there?
Jeff Gaiman: Yeah, the original was a classic of its time back in 1993 it was a RTS but what we set out to do was to recreate the spirit of the original. The original was set in the fantastic future cyberpunk world, it had fantastic weaponry, it had the agents and we set out to take those elements and to bring them together in a new form for today’s gamers and today we can put players directly into the boots of the agents.
Re-envisioning a classic is dangerous territory, a loyal fan base ready to pull you apart for cocking it up, a level of quality you have to stand up to and lots of backstory to not ruin, but it's doable and from what we've seen it looks like EA have gone and managed it.
